Our mini-vacations. We are back from our short trip for a weekend in Goderich, Bayfield, Grand Bend and Ipperwash. We had a very good time and Melina was good most of the time. She didn't like the car ride on our way there but she was alright after that. It was a little bit cold on Friday and windy on Saturday to go to the water, but we manager to wet our feet on Sunday, including Melina! In the beginning she did not know how to react to the wind but then she got used to it. She seemed to enjoy a little bit of sun as well.

Nuestras mini-vacaciones. Hace un par de días volvimos de nuestras mini-vacaciones. El fin de semana (viernes, sábado y domindo) visitamos unos pueblitos en la costa del Lago Huron, a un par de horas de London (Goderich, Bayfield, Grand Bend, Ipperwash). La pasamos bien con Melina, quien se portó muy bien la mayor parte del tiempo. Por momentos no le gustó mucho el viaje en auto, así es que tuvimos que hacer unas "paradas estratégicas". El viernes estuvo un poco frió para el agua y el sábado hubo demasiado viento. Pero el domingo aprovechamos el buen tiempo para mojar nuestras pies en el agua. Incluso Melina tuvo su primera experiencia. Al principio Melina no sabía cómo reaccionar al viento, pero luego se fue acostumbrando y al final empezó a disfrutar el sol.

Melina Sophia is three and a half months old. Melina keeps growing and learning new things. This past few days she "found" her feet so now she is debating whether to play with the toys she has or with her feet. She is feeding well and sleeping throughout the night (well... most nights). She can roll on her tummy now, she pulls mommy's hair more often and she is starting to laugh.

Melina Sophia cumple 3 meses y medio. Melina continúa creciendo y aprendiendo nuevas cosas. Estos últimos días "encontró" sus pies and ahora pensamos que va a empezar a jugar un poco con sus juguetes y otro poco con su nuevo descubrimiento: los dedos del pie. Se alimenta bien y duerme la mayor parte de la noche (con algunas salvedades, ya que algunas noches se sigue despertando cada tres o cuatro horas). Entre algunas de las cosas nuevas que puede hacer, se encuentran: dar la semi-vuelta desde estar boca arriba a estar boca abajo, agarrar y tirar el pelo de Karen, y el comienzo de su risa. De a poquito ha ido descubriendo su voz y ya está empezando a emitir sonidos bastante cercanos a una risa.

Melina Sophia is THREE months old today! Another milestone in Melina's life. Three months after her birth, Melina is able to do so many things already: she smiles a lot, grabs her toys, enjoys listening to music, likes stare at patterns. She is starting to lift his head and she is able to turn when she's lying on her stomach. She's better able to track objects and can follow them as they move through her field of vision. At night, she is sleeping well and during the day she usually takes a few naps. Happy Three months, Melina!

Melina Sophia cumple TRES meses. Tres meses han pasado desde el nacimiento de Melina. Después de tantas semanas, Melina es capaz de hacer un montón de cosas: sonríe frecuentemente, le gusta agarrar los juguetes que tiene a su alcance y disfruta cuando escuchamos música y le mostramos libros con colores fuertes. También ha comenzado a levantar su cabeza y controlar el movimiento del cuello, sobretodo, cuando la ponemos boca abajo. Lo que ha mejorado su visión, puede seguir con sus ojos los juguetes que le ponemos al frente. Durante las noches duerme muy bien y durante el día necesita al menos un par de siestas. ¡Feliz tres meses, Melina!

Melina is 12 weeks old. Melina had a very good week. She is starting to attempt to roll on her belly and she is getting way more active which means we play more with her during the day. She is also getting better at sleeping at night. We have been visiting with more people and some people say she looks like me, some people say she looks like Lucas, and some see both of us in her. What do you think?

Melina cumple 12 semanas. Melina ha tenido una muy buena semana. Ahora ha comenzado a intentar darse vuelta y acostarse sobre su pancita. También está cada vez más activa, lo que significa que pasamos más tiempo jugando con ella. A la noche, sin embargo, está durmiendo muy bien y a veces hasta le gusta dormir hasta más tarde por la mañana.

Melina is 11 weeks old - Father's Day. Melina is holding her head up more now. She is starting to pay more attention of her surroundings as well and she enjoys playing baby games. She is grabbing things and she makes sounds to get attention. We went to Windsor for Father's day and, for most of the time, she enjoyed the ride.

Melina cumple 11 semanas - Día del Padre. Melina puede sostener su cabeza por más tiempo. Además, presta más atención a lo que la rodea, por lo que es más fácil poder jugar con ella. Para el Día del Padre fuimos a Windsor y Melina disfrutó la mayor parte del viaje en auto.

Melina is 10 weeks old. Melina had her first set of shots this week. That was not a good Wednesday for her! But she started to feel better next day. Melina now weights 10 lb. 7 oz. This week she started baby massage classes with mommy and she enjoys them very much.

Melina cumple 10 semanas. Melina tuvo sus primeras vacunas esta semana. La verdad es que el miércoles no fue un buen día para ella, pero se empezó a sentir mejor al día siguiente. Melina pesa ahora 4.735 gramos. Esta semana mamá y Melina empezaron con las clases de masajes para bebés y hemos notado que a Melina le encanta una buena sesión de masajes antes de ir a dormir.

Melina Sophia is two months old! So Melina is turning two months old today. As you can see in the picture, she is smiling a lot and the best thing of all, she seems to be sleeping more at night. She is also learning to reach and grab things.

Melina Sophia cumple dos meses! Melina sigue creciendo y hoy cumple 2 meses. Melina sonrie mas seguido y duerme un poco mas de noche. Ademas, tambien esta aprendiendo a estirarse para agarrar cosas y juguetes que le ponemos adelante.

Melina Sophia is EIGHT weeks old. Melina keeps growing and she now weights 10 lb. and she is 23.5 inches. This week Karen and Melina visited the doctor and everything is fine. Melina's fronthead was a little dry so the doctor suggested to apply a little bit of vaseline before the baby is put in bed. A couple of nights ago, Melina slept almost 8 hours straight so that was a good reason to celebrate! Some pictures show Melina with no clothes this week because we had a heat wave here in London, with temperatures going over 85F and our air conditioner was not set up yet (now it is and it feels much better). Melina Sophia cumple OCHO semanas. Melina sigue creciendo y ahora pesa 4.530 gramos y mide casi 60 centímetros. Esta semana, Karen y Melina tuvieron tu visita al médico y todo marcha muy bien. La piel en la frente de Melina estaba un poco seca, así es que el médico recomendó ponerle un poquito de vaselina antes de dormir. Hace un par de noches, Melina durmió casi 8 horas seguidas, así es que fue un motivo para celebrar. Algunas de las fotos de esta semana muestran a Melina sin ropa. Es porque tuvimos una ola de calor aquí en London, con temperaturas por encima de los 30 grados. El problema es que todavía no teníamos el aire acondicionado preparado. Melina is SEVEN weeks old. The highlight this week is that we notice how Melina is more aware of her surroundings and because of that she is starting to smile more frequently. This week she did not gain a lot of weight but her feedings are frequent so we hope she'll start gaining weight faster this week.

Melina cumple SIETE semanas. La noticia más destacada esta semana es que Melina está más atenta a lo que ocurre a sus alrededores y por esta razón creemos que sonríe con mayor frecuencia. Esta semana, Melina no ha aumentado mucho de peso, pero lo bueno es que sigue alimentándose de manera normal.

Melina Sophia is SIX weeks old. Not much has changed since last time. The most important thing is that Melina is growing fast and well. She now weights 9 lb. 8 oz., which is really good. She is 22 inches long. The big thing for us is that tomorrow is Karen's first Mother's Day. We plan to celebrate it here in London.

Note: the little dress Melina is wearing was made by Melina´s great-great grandmother (Rosa Stevenot de Fassi, mother of Gladys Fassi de Cativelli, mother of Cristina Cativelli de Savino, mother of Lucas.) She sent it with Lucas´s parents when they came to visit us for Melina´s birth.)

Melina Sophia cumple SEIS semanas. Mucho no ha cambiado desde la última vez que incluimos noticias en el blog. Lo más importante es que Melina sigue creciendo y se encuentra muy bien. ¡Ahora pesa 4,310 gramos y mide 56 centímetros! El gran acontecimiento es que mañana celebraremos el primer Día de la Madre de Karen. Pensamos pasarlo aquí en familia en London.

Nota adicional: el vestidito que está usando Melina en esta foto fue hecho por la tatarabuela de Melina (Rosa Stevenot de Fassi, mamá de Gladys Fassi de Cativelli, mamá de Cristina Cativelli de Savino, mamá de Lucas.) La abuela Rosa nos mandó el vestido con los padres de Lucas cuando nos estuvieron visitando en Canadá para el nacimiento de Melina.
